Jeep for sale in the Philippines

Jeep is a US brand of vehicles produced under the Chrysler Group. In January 2014, Chrysler was acquired by Fiat S.p.A, an Italian multinational automaker. Throughout the years the company has carved out its name in the automotive industry by producing high performance off-road vehicles.

The company is known as a specialty automaker focused on producing trucks and sports utility vehicles (SUVs) that can hit the dirt. Jeep also has a deep connection to one of the Philippines most beloved mass transport vehicles- the jeepney.

Short history

Jeep has been around since 1941. According to one theory explaining the origins of the word jeep, it came from the morphed abbreviation GP or “general purpose” which describes the vehicles produced by Willys-Overland and Ford for the US Army in World War II. These vehicles saw action in many parts of the world including the Philippines. When the Americans left the country after winning the war they left a surplus of Willys Jeeps that were later modified and turned into a mass passenger vehicle called the "jeepney".

The first civilian jeeps were released in 1941 and its model was named the CJ-2A. The company’s longest continuously produced model was the 1950’s CJ-5 model which was sold on the market for 30 years.

The secret to Jeep’s success is their high performing 4x4 drivetrain technology that they have continuously developed throughout the decades. Together with a towering ride height, full sized design and powerful engine, the Jeep has established itself as the leader among off-highway rides.

Jeep was also the first to introduce the automatic full-time 4WD system. Today the company has an impressive fleet of SUVs- the compact crossovers Jeep Compass and Jeep Patriot; the midsize family crossover Jeep Cherokee and the subcompact crossover Jeep Renegade.

Jeep Grand Cherokee

Go Anywhere, Do Anything” is Jeep’s resounding slogan. And for good reason. The products behind this brand have been known for their durability and all-terrain capability. Jeep’s reputation has been rooted so deeply in our culture, that if a scene in a Hollywood film involves the characters driving through thick jungles or dirt roads, they are probably in a Jeep.

Famous models

Arguably, one of the most successful models of the brand is the , whose designs have veered slightly from the first Jeeps that were used during World War II. Today, the Wrangler also includes a four-door version.
