Ford, through Ford Pro (the company’s commercial services division), is expanding its commercial vehicle EV charger portfolio by launching six new home and depot chargers. The new charging systems, said the Blue Oval brand, will help its commercial customers make a smoother transition from ICEs to EVs.

“We are investing heavily in products and services to help commercial customers accelerate into an electric future, which means helping to ensure our hardware and software can plug and play with other manufacturers, as we know many customers operate mixed-make fleets. These chargers can be completely customized to unique commercial environments and can work even better when paired together with Ford Pro electric vehicles and Telematics to enable OEM-grade data transparency,” said Ford Pro CEO Ted Cannis.

Ford and PSB, a global research and analytics consultancy, also conducted a study that revealed how fleet managers feel about shifting to EVs. Nearly half of them, said Ford, see the setup of charging infrastructure to be a challenge for their companies and a nearly equal number express their concerns about finding optimal charging solutions.

With that in mind, Ford looks to help its commercial customers implement a complete charging solution that will meet the demanding needs of their fleet operations.

Once the charging systems are up and running, Ford Pro will continue to support commercial electric vehicle customers with various services like software for smart charging, pre-conditioning, remote monitoring, reimbursement management for home charging, and reporting to help save on energy costs, maximize vehicle efficiency and uptime.

“It starts with sitting down with our customers to learn their business and how they plan to use their electric vehicles. Regardless of the size of their business or the industry they are in, we’ll help them plan their charging infrastructure — whether it’s installing home chargers for employees or developing a large-scale depot system — to make the transition to electric seamless,” said Ford Pro Charging General Manager Muffi Ghadiali.

According to the Dearborn-based automaker, Ford Pro’s new charging solutions will launch in the US in spring (from March to June), alongside the all-new 2022 Ford E-Transit and the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning Pro.
