Ford Calls Gamers to Design, Build, and Race a New Car
Like as if playing games for fun isn't enough. Now, Ford Motor Company is calling on all gamers out there to help design the ultimate virtual racing car through a unique collaboration between the auto manufacturer and the gaming community.
The virtual racing car project will be named “Team Fordzilla – P1”, and will showcase Ford's "real‑world Human‑Centric Design thinking in a digital world".
It will be designed "fresh from the ground up", and will be Ford's first-ever virtual race car "not to be based on an existing real‑world model".
Codenamed “Team Fordzilla P1” project, the collaboration will be led by the captains of Ford's five Fordzilla esports teams from the UK, Spain, Italy, Germany, and France.
Ford of Europe's Design Team will actively ask the help of the gaming community for their valuable insights and inputs on how the vehicle's design should be made.
“Coming up with a no-holds barred race car for the virtual world is when the gloves come off and the design team can really let their imaginations fly," said Amko Leenarts, director, Design, Ford of Europe.
"The expertise of gamers is crucial to ensuring that this will be the best-looking car on the grid.”

Design Phase Collaboration
The design phase will be collaboration between Ford experts and expert gamers who "lead the way in racing their virtual counterparts". The designers will be using Twitter polls to open key design questions to the wider gaming community. It will be posted by @TeamFordzilla, with each poll discussing an important design attribute that gamers can choose and decide on. “We all love racing our dream cars but ultimately these are usually painstaking recreations of vehicles that actually exist in the real world,” said Angelo Bülow, captain of the German Fordzilla team. “It will be an absolute thrill to get behind the wheel of the #TeamFordzillaP1 for the first time knowing that not only have we helped to create it but that no-one else has ever driven it before.” The project will start this week. Those who are interested to join and take part in this unique, gaming collaboration can follow @TeamFordzilla's Twitter and Instagram channels for more information.
