For many Filipinos, investing in a motorcycle is the way to go. They’re obviously cheaper than four-wheeled vehicles plus they also consume less fuel. For those in the market for practical rides, here are our fuel-efficient faves from Suzuki.

1. Suzuki Burgman Street

The smaller brother of the expressway-legal Burgman 400, the Suzuki Burgman Street offers many motorcycle buyers a fuel-efficient ride to take on tight city streets and busy national roads. Its upright riding position makes the Burgman Street a great touring bike for those who like to take on relaxing long rides during the weekend.

It’s equipped with a capable four-stroke, once-cylinder, SOCH, two-valve, 124cc engine mated to a CVT. This setup allows the Burgman Street to achieve an impressive fuel economy of 53kpl.

2. Suzuki Raider R150

A favorite among many enthusiasts, the Suzuki Raider R150 not only offers good aggressive looks but also stunning power and performance. It’s undeniably the “underbone king” as it's the top choice of riders looking to go fearlessly fast.

Compared to the aforementioned Burgman Street, the Suzuki Raider R150 has a more sporty riding position which helps improve the motorcycle’s aerodynamics. It also has a lighter set of wheels which works in the Raider R150’s favor when it comes to speed and fuel efficiency.

It's fitted with a 147cc engine mated to a six-speed transmission. The carb-type Suzuki Raider R150 — although some would say many motorcycle mechanics would be able to tune and choke the carb — clocks in at 33kpl while the fuel-injected model registers at about 50kpl.

3. Suzuki Burgman 400

Suzuki’s one and only maxi scoot offered in the Philippines also is one of its most fuel-efficient models. In the segment, the Suzuki Burgman 400 achieves about 37kpl, which is not bad considering it packs a 400cc engine and carries a total curb mass of 215kg.

The Suzuki Burgman 400 is one of the best bikes to ride on when you plan to go further and brave the expressways. And like its smaller brother, the big Burgman offers a comfortable riding position which makes reaching father destinations quite tolerable.
