Ginetta Reveals All-New Sports Car Ahead of Geneva Motor Show

British specialist sports car builder Ginetta wants to hype up its new build ahead of the Geneva Motor Show this March 7, and has released details and images of the road-legal speedster to the public. True to its Ginetta roots, the coupe-type racer is one exquisitely sculpted beauty, with loads of pretty aerodynamic touches and dramatic flair all-throughout.

The yet-unnamed car will be displayed at Geneva as an operational prototype, paving the way for an extremely limited run of just 20 units. Production of the 20 Ginetta cars is set to begin in 2020, of which 12 already have owners.

The all-new supercar houses a dry-sumped 6-liter 90-degree V8 that's manufactured in-house by Ginetta. This engine is constructed single-aluminum billet block and dishes out 600 hp and 700 Nm of torque, thereby delivering a power-to-weight ratio of 545 hp per ton. Measuring 4,640mm long, 2,000mm wide, and 1,290mm tall, the car boasts a low weight courtesy of the carbon-fiber monocoque and body panels, as well as the integrated carbon roll-cage.

Inside the coupe's cockpit, driver and passenger are treated to lightweight, lushly cushioned seats molded into the car's carbon tub. The trims comprise of carbon fiber, billet aluminum and fine Alcantara leather, imbued with plenty of real-world practicality to ensure they are every bit as functional as they are attractive. This practicality extends to the tech features, such as air conditioning, park sensors, rearview camera, automatic headlights, and heated windscreens front and back.

"Racing at the highest level has taught us that to win you have to have your overall car concept and every detail exactly right, and we've brought that same philosophy to our first supercar," said Ginetta Chairman and former Le Mans winner Lawrence Tomlinson. "Starting with a blank sheet of paper allowed us to create a true mid-engine design with an all carbon monocoque, LMP-derived aerodynamics and an in-house designed powertrain resulting in a driver-orientated package for the road."

The cars are priced around GBP400,000 each.

"I have felt for a long time there was a gap in the market at around the GBP400k price point for a genuinely low production number supercar, with proper craftsmanship and true race derived know-how and technology," Tomlinson added.
