Here's what to see in the Yamaha E01
It was last year when Yamaha unveiled the E01, which made waves in the global new energy vehicle arena. However, it was earlier this month that Carmudi Philippines had the chance to see the electric scooter in the metal following a recent trip at the recently-concluded Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
What is the Yamaha E01's estimated range?
The electric scooter can cover up to 104 kilometers. How much power can the Yamaha E01 deliver?
The Yamaha E01 can dish out around 11 horsepower.Driven by Yamaha riders Fabio Quartararo and Franco Morbidelli to stroll around the VIP area, the examples of the electrified motorcycle caught the attention of many onlookers at the venue. To recall, the duo visited the Philippines last March.
Following this, we urged Yamaha Motor Philippines to bring this motorcycle to the country after learning its features.
Here are some notable details about the Yamaha E01 and why it could have a strong following in the market.
While it bears a strong resemblance with one of Yamaha’s offerings in the country that is the NMax, the Yamaha E01 came out with its own identity. The styling that the electric scooter wears is based on Yamaha's Jin-Ki Kanno EV Design concept.
At the fore are rounded headlights neatly tucked underneath the front portion of the cowl, which is just near its suspension. The charging port is laid on the center with a lid that shows the E01 badging. This layout helps riders to easily charge up the non-removable lithium-ion battery found beneath the motorcycle seat.
Aside from that, the Yamaha E01 also sports slim and pointed turning lights just below that Nmax-looking handlebars.
Found on the sides are long footrests that give the rider’s feet some comfortable space while onboard the vehicle. Further at the back are a pair of aluminum footpegs for the pillion. However, we have yet to see a Yamaha E01 version that has grab handles.
At the back are two shock absorbers (that will reduce the effects of ruts on the road), mudguard (instead of flap), and bar-type brake lights.
Powering the motorcycle is an electric engine that has a peak churn of around 11 horsepower. Also, since it nearly has the same dimensions as the famous scooter in the Philippines, the Yamaha E01 can bob and weave through traffic without polluting air.
According to the Japanese motorcycle marque, the Yamaha E01 is suitable for inter-urban mobility as it features usability comparable to 50-125 cubic centimeter gasoline-propelled scooters.
With that, the Yamaha E01 — should it be brought to the local market — is expected to be a strong contender in the segment.
