Honda’s Takeo Fujisawa inducted into Automotive Hall of Fame

Honda announced that its co-founder Takeo Fujisawa has been inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame.

The Fillmore Detroit bore witness as the three iconic products that helped to establish Honda as one of the most innovative companies in America — the Honda 50 motorcycle (Super Cub), the Civic CVCC, and the HondaJet — were showcased during the awards ceremony.

Honda Motor Company Chairman Seiji Kuraishi accepted the honor on behalf of Fujisawa’s family, and Honda associates around the world.

“The spirit and vision of Takeo Fujisawa continues to guide Honda. Our business in America may have started with the Super Cub motorcycle, but due to his vision it continues with new types of mobility, including the HondaJet,” Kuraishi said.

Fujisawa now joins Honda founder Soichiro Honda in the esteemed honorary institution.

Some of Fujisawa’s lasting and impactful business decisions include starting a Honda business in the United States (US), creating an independent US dealer network, and establishing a separate research and development company.

“The corporate culture Mr. Fujisawa helped foster is alive and well today and will continue as a driving force for Honda in business. The commitment to act as a good corporate citizen is as important now as it has always been as Honda continues to pursue ‘The Power of Dreams’ and use technology to help move people and society forward,” Honda wrote in a press release.
