MANILA: Hyundai Motor Philippines (HMPH) has reintroduced the Kona nameplate.
During the company’s third anniversary in the Philippines, the South Korean carmaker’s local wing presented the sport utility vehicle’s (SUV) latest iteration — which comes with new features and conveniences, promising an exciting experience for those who are looking for more meaningful drives as they pursue their goals.
At the fore, the all-new Hyundai Kona features a signature LED horizontal lamp. While it dropped the traditional grille, it sports large air vents flanked by three-dimensional garnishes on the bumper.
To its sides are striking bodylines, which appear to have been echoed by its angular side mirrors. Likewise, its body claddings (found on its wheel arches and the lower portions of its doors) create visible design continuity. Notable too are its set of two-tone wheels with a geometric pattern.
Adding to its overall character are body-toned door handles, blacked-out pillars, and pitch-black roof rails.
Its rear has a sporty spoiler with an integrated brake lamp, a decent-sized glass, taillamps that copy the design cues at the front, a power tailgate, and an aggressive-looking bumper.
Inside, the all-new Hyundai Kona gets a floating dual 12.3-inch screen setup combining the panoramic instrument cluster and infotainment screen. Smartphone integration can be done by way of wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto connection.
For added convenience, it also has a wireless charger with a cooling fan. There are also USB ports for juicing up other gadgets.
Those sitting in the front row can enjoy an open console storage with rotating cup holders.
Other notable cabin appointments come in the form of the following:
The all-new Hyundai Kona is also capable of hauling cargo thanks to its generous boot space. With the seats folded down, it can accommodate up to 1,241 liters of cargo.
And while we’re on the topic of hauling things, the SUV is equipped with a hybrid powertrain system comprised of the following:

1.6-liter gasoline |
Transmission |
Six-speed dual clutch |
The said setup is able to dish out the following figures:
Hyundai Motor Philippines noted that the above hybrid power unit is paired with smart regenerative braking and e-Motion Drive to ensure smooth handling and performance.
