I-ACT Issues Over 10K Tickets, Impounds 450 Vehicles
The InterAgency Council for Traffic (I-ACT) continues its intensified operations against colorum vehicles and the stringent enforcement of traffic laws and regulations.
From January to July 2019, 10,370 tickets were issued for violations such as having defective parts, disregarding traffic signs, obstruction, failure to use seatbelts, driving without license, failure to attach temporary plate, using unauthorized accessories, failure to use headlights, improper loading/unloading, failure to carry OR/CR, and no signboard, among others.
Moreover, 450 vehicles including buses, vans, taxis, private sedans, Public Utility Jeepneys (PUJs), and motorcycles were impounded for colorum, illegal parking, and out-of-line violations.
I-ACT assiduously adheres to its mandate of enforcing traffic rules and regulations with the end view of systemically reshaping the "old habits" toward a culture of road safety and compliance.
I-ACT is comprised of members of the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), Land Transportation Office (LTO), Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), and the Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG).
