Isuzu Traviz--What We Know So Far

After we reported about the Isuzu Traviz‘s arrival in the country, we just had to snoop for more information regarding Isuzu Philippines’ (IPC) entry into the once-dead Asian Utility Vehicle category.

Well, we’ve talked to our sources within IPC and here’s what we’ve confirmed so far, three weeks before its launch.

The Traviz’s cab and chassis will be imported as semi-knocked down units from Indonesia. After installing some of the required parts at IPC's Biñan, Laguna plant, it will then be transported to a local bodybuilder--either Almazora, Centro, or KPC--for completion.

As for the all-important engine, in Indonesia–where it’s known as the Traga–the Traviz is powered by the Euro 2-spec 2.5-liter 4JA1 diesel engine, which was last used to power the now-dead Isuzu Crosswind. Well, we can confirm now that IPC will use a common-rail direct injection BluePower-version of the same engine for the Traviz, which means it's revamped to make it into a Euro 4-compliant mill.
