Kia enjoys 10% sales climb in Aug. 2022

Hyundai-owned automotive brand Kia announced that global sales reached 239,887 units for the whole month of August. The reported figure revealed that the South Korean carmaker experienced a 10.4-percent increase in its overall sales compared to the same month last year.

Kia said that its increased numbers came to an SUV-led lineup that spurred the brand’s sales for the previous month. According to the Seoul-based brand, the Kia Sportage and the Kia Seltos were among its best-selling models with 35,408 and 22,487 units sold respectively. Kia’s EV6 also recorded a strong sales figure of 4,661 units.

Other factors that have helped bring up Kia’s sales could be the string of recognition the brand has received. Kia’s accolades include the top rank in the 2022 Vehicle Dependability Study conducted by JD Power in the US as well as the “Car Brand of the Year” award from UK-based Which? Awards.

Kia remained positive with its business outlook. The company stated in a recent press release that it will continue to adjust its production in line with inventory status flexibly and minimize production disruption. Kia also believes that by building on competitive new models such as the all-electric EV6 — named the 2022 European Car of the Year in February — the company can create positive sales momentum and enhance profitability while continuing to rapidly transition to a sustainable mobility solutions provider.
