LTO apprehends 12k unregistered vehicles in July

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has reported an apprehension count of 12,000 unregistered vehicles across the country for the month of July.

Per the agency, it continues to reinforce its “No Registration, No Travel” policy with LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Attorney Vigor Mendoza II highlighting that it is only through the registration of vehicles that the roadworthiness of a vehicle is guaranteed, citing its importance — particularly for the vehicles being used for public transportation.

He lauded Regional Directors and other officials of the land transport bureau for their efforts.

According to the agency’s data, LTO Calabarzon has the most number of apprehended unregistered vehicles with 5,204 apprehensions and 403 impoundment of vehicles.

Meanwhile, LTO’s anti-colorum drive has seen some 223 apprehensions for the month of July.

Earlier, Mendoza ordered all LTO Regional Directors that all impounded colorum vehicles require a court order before they are released to the owners — which is part of the aggressive campaign to protect legitimate operators and drivers.
