LTO Philippines 1

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) is eyeing a nationwide motor vehicle registration caravan following the agency’s crackdown on unregistered vehicles.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How many vehicles in the country are unregistered?

According to LTO there are 24.7 million unregistered vehicles in the country.
  • What regions have the most number of unregistered vehicles?

Per the agency, the regions with the most number of unregistered vehicles are Metro Manila, Central Luzon, and Calabarzon.
  • Per the country’s land transportation bureau, there are approximately 24.7 million unregistered cars and motorcycles in the country.

LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Attorney Vigor Mendoza II said the motor vehicle registration caravan will be conducted across the country in coordination with the local government units, particularly at the barangay level.

Sa level ng barangay ay madali ng malalaman ng ating mga opisyales ng barangay kung sino-sino at ilan sa kanilang mga constituents ang hindi rehistrado ang mga motorsiklo at mga sasakyan. Kaya tayo po ay hihingi ng tulong sa kanila tungkol dito (at the barangay level, our officials can easily find out who and how many of their constituents have unregistered motorcycles and vehicles. So we will ask them for help about this),” Mendoza stated.

Sa pagsasagawa ng motor vehicle registration caravan, ipinapakita namin sa LTO na hindi lang kami puro enforcement. We are going to bring the services of the LTO closer to our clients (by conducting the motor vehicle registration caravan, we are showing the LTO that we are not just enforcement. We are going to bring the services of the LTO closer to our clients),” he added.

Metro Manila, Central Luzon, and Calabarzon regions have the most number of delinquent motor vehicles, according to LTO

Extra effort ito sa aming sa LTO pero lahat ng magiging pagod ay worth it naman dahil ang pinag-uusapan dito ay ang pagtitiyak ng road worthiness ng mga sasakyan na siyang mandato ng inyong LTO (this is an extra effort from us at the LTO but all the tiredness is worth it because what we are talking about here is ensuring the road worthiness of the vehicles which is the mandate of your LTO),” Mendoza noted.

The LTO Chief urged delinquent motor vehicle owners to register in order to avoid serious problems, which could lead to the impoundment of their motor vehicles.
