LTO: One of the 5 Agencies Duterte Wants to "Kill" if Service Doesn't Improve Soon
Look out, Land Transportation Office (LTO): You're on the top five agencies that drastically need to improve and streamline your procedures. If you don't, then prepare to meet President Rodrigo Duterte's "murderous wrath."
"Kapag hindi niyo pa nagawa 'yan ngayon, papatayin ko talaga kayo. Nabubuwisit na ako (If you still fail to do it now, I will really kill all of you. I am already getting annoyed)," he threatened, during his Fourth State of the Nation Address yesterday.
According to ABS-CBN, Duterte enumerated the the top five agencies that get the most complaints. They are the Home Development Mutual Fund (HDMF), Social Security System (SSS), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Land Registration Authority (LRA), and the Land Transportation Office (LTO).
"The LTO, SSS, BIR, LRA and PAG-IBIG are the top 5 agencies that need to drastically improve their service," the President said.
"Simplify. Just like the others, you can do it electronically. You don't have to go to the office. I have been asking that from you since three years ago," Duterte said.
The president signed the Ease of Doing Business Act last March 2018, mandating agencies to act on applications within three days for simple transactions, seven days for more complicated cases, and 20 days for those requiring technical actions. His goal was to lessen waiting time and banish long lines in government agencies.
