LTO opens ‘drive-thru’ vehicle registration in Sorsogon

Motorists in Sorsogon can now register their automobiles through the region’s drive-thru motor vehicle registration facility, said Land Transportation Office (LTO) chief Jose Arturo Tugade.

Through a Facebook post, the agency’s head revealed that the registration process in LTO Sorsogon’s motor vehicle drive-thru takes less than five minutes.

“Not only are fast food drive-thru increasing, Land Transportation Office — Philippines is trying to make it happen as well. Earlier today I attended the celebration and first day of the opening of the drive-thru of the motor vehicle registration in Sorsogon City. Registration closes in less than 5 (five) minutes!” said the LTO boss.

Do note that LTO’s drive-thru motor vehicle registration services are currently only available outside of Metro Manila.

The first one was opened back in 2020 in Mandaue City while the second LTO facility offering drive-thru motor vehicle registration service was opened last year in Camarines Sur.

Further, the LTO is bolstering its corruption crackdown efforts to rid the agency of fraudulent activities and discourage vehicle owners from patronizing fixers.

In a recent press release, the LTO announced that it has nabbed fixers who offer “no show/no appearance” vehicle registration services, advertised on social media platforms. Albeit a hefty price, some vehicle owners continue to patronize these so-called middlemen in favor of hassle-free motor vehicle registration.

The continued effort of the agency to make their process seamless for Filipino motorists, coupled with the LTO chief’s vow to purge the office of corruption, may just be the right recipe.
