The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has issued a P3,000-fine for two riders, whose videos of riding shirtless recently went viral over social media.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How will the Land Transportation Office prevent the two riders from securing a driver’s license while being penalized with the said one-year disqualification?

According to LTO Intelligence and Investigation Division Officer-In-Charge Renan Melitante, the riders will be tagged with “alarm in-person.”
  • What traffic regulations have the motorcycle owners violated?

Per the agency, the motorcycle owners now face violations of Republic Act (RA) 10054, LTO Administrative Order No. AHS-2008-015, and Section 27a of RA 4136.
  • Per the agency, the aforementioned riders who were filmed riding without proper gear (shirt, jacket, pants, and closed shoes) were also found to have no driver’s licenses.

On that note, the LTO said that the two riders will be disqualified from applying for a driver’s license for one year.

LTO Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) Officer-In-Charge (OIC) Renan Melitante said that the two will be tagged with “alarm in-person.” The division OIC pointed out that prior to the issuance of a driver’s license, an applicant must secure a student’s permit, which requires clearance and evaluation from the IID.
