Many PUV Drivers Yet to Receive Financial Aid

LTFRB

There is still quite a number of public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers that has not yet received financial assistance promised by the government.

In a report from ABS-CBN, PUV drivers were already in line as early as 5 am in Landbank's branch in PhilCOA, Quezon City last Monday. Some drivers—who walked 1-2 hours just to reach the said bank—were left empty-handed because they were not included in the initial list or were not part of the bank's 350 drivers cut-off number.

In Jacque Manabat's Facebook post, some drivers weren't also included in the list of financial aid recipients from the government. When they tried transferring to other Landbank branches, most were already closed for the day.

Such as the case for senior citizen driver Jimmy Tindugan, who is suffering from asthma.

That Monday, the 69-year old taxi driver Tindugan, had gone home without receiving any aid. Based on Manabat's interview in TV Patrol, the driver claimed that he was already in  line since 5:00 AM, only to be told that his name is not on the list.

The masterlist for those getting the financial help come from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and Department of Social Welfare and Development. This list will be updated daily.

According to the LTFRB, the recipients will be based according to the operators of public transportation vehicles, or those whose names are directly registered at the LTFRB.

The regulator has posted on their Facebook page the list of those who will receive the financial assistance, and to which Landbank branch they should go to.

They also reminded drivers to bring their driver's licenses when they get their money from the bank.

PUV Driver's Cash Assistance

Currently, there are around 12,454 PUV drivers who have already been given financial aid by the government.

According to LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra III, the beneficiaries will include drivers of four-wheeled PUVs. This includes jeepneys, buses, UV Express, and transport network vehicle service, among others.

Moreover, 55,111 motorcycle taxi bikers from Angkas, JoyRide, and Move-It will also receive financial aid from the govenment.
