Maxus re-enters PH; eyes strong market presence in local truck segment

MANILA: After a short period, Maxus is back in the Philippines. However, this time around, it is eyeing to take a chunk at the local commercial vehicle industry — with  Pioneer Trucks Philippines as its new partner.

    “Our goal is to support local businesses with dependable vehicles, whether they choose EVs or traditional powertrains,” the company’s top official added.

    In line with such a development, Maxus’ arm for its commercial vehicle line in the country is set to introduce two all-electric trucks namely ES80 6W and T1. They will be displayed at this year’s Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit.

    Pioneer Trucks Philippines said these two upcoming offerings “represent a new chapter in sustainable transport and logistics for Filipino businesses.”

    ES80 6W

    A six-wheeler commercial vehicle, the Maxus ES80 is propelled by an electric motor in rear-wheel-drive format. This powertrain has the capacity to provide:

    The aforementioned mill is paired with a 53.58 kilowatt-hour lithium-phosphate battery that can be juiced up in 1.2 hours using a DC charger.

    Further, this model can carry a peak of 2.5 tons and offer a range of 302 kilometers (kms) when carrying half load.

    T1

    On the other hand, the Maxus T1 is a medium-duty truck that has a more powerful electric motor (also in rear-wheel-drive configuration) that can dish out:

    The drivetrain is equipped with either a 100- or 120-kilowatt-hour capacity that lets it cover up to 510 kms (half load) and haul as much as four tons.

    Despite the differences in size and usage, both the ES80 6W and T1 are equipped with numerous comfort, convenience and safety technologies that come in the form of
