Jeep’s Legacy and Future Plans
Jeep’s legacy in the Philippines started when American troops began to leave the Philippines at the end of World War II and left hundreds of surplus Jeeps to be sold or given to Filipinos. One of these vehicles was the 1943 Willys Jeep. These Jeeps were stripped down, altered and decorated with vibrant colors and have evolved into what is commonly known today as the Philippine Jeepneys.
After more than 70 years, the Jeep brand is an iconic American brand owned and managed by FCA. The company plans to bring more of their models in the coming years.
“For now, we only have brought in the Philippines most probably 40 percent of our range, so for the next 1-2 years we would like to bring a whole full range of Jeep products in the Philippines, which is really gonna be good,” Yao added.
