Mitsubishi PH gives P1-M to PRC for Odette-affected communities

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) has made a P1-million donation to the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) in its bid to help those who were affected by Typhoon Odette.

  • In a statement, the local distributor of the Japanese marque said that the funding is intended to provide immediate relief and long term-rehabilitation to areas in the Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan. It noted that almost two months after the calamity struck, many areas still need support.

    “Those residing in the aforementioned areas are still making ends meet on top of the challenges of the ongoing pandemic. The brand’s donation will be utilized to prepare relief packages that will be distributed to households particularly in Surigao Del Norte as they move out of temporary shelters into transitional housing that enable more stability in terms of livelihood and daily living,” the company shared.

    MMPC President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Takeshi Hara thanked the PRC for allowing the company to help in giving assistance to the locals that were affected by Typhoon Odette.

    “We understand the magnitude of devastation that they absorbed and Mitsubishi Motors aims to assist with their recovery,” Hara said during the official virtual turnover.

    “Our commitment to the Philippines goes beyond providing quality cars and vehicle service as it extends to a vision of being a medium in making the life of every Filipino better,” he added.

    Meanwhile, PRC Chairman and CEO Richard Gordon also expressed gratitude to MMPC for choosing the humanitarian organization as the company’s preferred partner in delivering much needed relief for Typhoon Odette-hit communities.

    “Through your generous donation, PRC will be able to strengthen and hasten relief efforts to alleviate human suffering and uplift the dignity of the people. May we continue to be partners in helping the most vulnerable as we help them through this crisis,” Gordon noted.

    He also said that their operations include the distribution of hot meals, food and non-food items, clean and potable water, shelter repair kits, psychosocial support, clearing operations, sleeping kits, multipurpose cash grants, facemasks, and medicines.
