Modified 2022 Frontier trucks headline Nissan’s Chicago Auto Show display

Nissan looks to make an impression at the upcoming 2022 Chicago Auto Show which is scheduled for February 12 to 21 at McCormick Place Convention Center located at the city’s magnificent lakefront.

  • What trucks will Nissan bring to the 2022 Chicago Auto Show?

Nissan will bring four trucks to the 2022 Chicago Auto Show namely Project 72X, Project Hardbody, Project Adventure, and the Rebelle Rally Frontier.
  • What other cars will be appearing alongside the pickup truck quartet?

Also making an appearance in the upcoming show are the 2023 Nissan Z and the 2023 Nissan Ariya.
  • Headlining the brand’s display will be four custom Frontier pickup trucks, three of which were made by Nissan’s San Diego-based design team. These include Project 72X, Project Hardbody (photo below), and Project Adventure.

Project 72X (photo below) is a custom-built Datsun 720 with gray exterior tones and graphics, white-painted steel wheels, a 2.5-inch lift kit, and a sports bar behind the cab while Project Hardbody is a 2022 Frontier Crew Cab SV 4x4 with a three-inch lift kit, classic Hardbody block-style wheels (designed and milled at NDA), bed-mounted spare tire carrier and door graphics with '80s-style shadow outlining. Project Adventure, on the other hand, boasts a custom body wrap as well as a five-inch lift kit, 34-inch mud-terrain tires, and a special carbon fiber snorkel designed and crafted by NDA.

The fourth Nissan truck to make an appearance at this year’s Chicago Auto Show is the Rebelle Rally Frontier. It has been modified for competition with a range of Nismo Off-Road parts, including Nismo Off-Road performance exhaust, Nismo Off-Road performance suspension kit, four-inch off-road lights, and Nismo Off-Road AXIS wheels.

Also making their Chicago-area debut at the show are the all-new 2023 Nissan Z and the 2023 Nissan Ariya electric crossover.

All of the showcased vehicles are part of the company's ambitious “Nissan NEXT” transformation, which has resulted in one of the freshest new model lineups in the industry.

“Two big events are happening in February, the Chicago Auto Show and the Super Bowl, and Nissan is excited to be a part of both. We are demonstrating the emotional connection and real benefits that Nissan tech delivers — the Thrill Effect — and can't wait for attendees at the show to experience these vehicles firsthand,” said Nissan US Senior Vice President Michael Colleran.
