New Portable EV Charging Stations to Power Sarao E-Jeepneys
It seems the future of electric vehicles in the Philippines is starting to really take shape. Once just a concept, not only are electric vehicles plying the streets these days, but there are already portable chargers that are available as well. A case in point: the first e-jeepney of Sarao Motors and Le ‘Guider International.
Created by Le' Guider International, the 220 kg, 700v charging station is expected to be released in the first part of 2019. It will use either solar or electricity panels as its primary components.
Aside from portable chargers, there are also plans to create charging stations that include snack bars, waiting lounges and even a restroom.
According to Le'Guider's site: "Many charging stations are on-street facilities provided by electric utility companies or located at retail shopping centers and operated by many private companies. These charging stations provide one or a range of heavy duty or special connectors that conform to the variety of electric charging connector standards."
Advocate of EV Vehicles
Le’Guider International, which has always been active in its push towards electric vehicles, had created electric motors that could be matched using manual transmission.
Another of its creation (in collaboration with Sarao Motors) is the magnetic motor. When fully charged, it can be customized to run an electric vehicle between 100 to 300 kilometers.
Its first venture with Sarao Motors was the GP Sarao EJ-12, which was showcased at the electric vehicles exhibit last April 2018. It was also present during the Land Transportation Office’s (LTO) 106th founding anniversary celebration that same month.
The vehicle houses Le 'Guider's electric motor system, while Sarao Motors provided the vehicle's chassis, suspension, and body. Around 100 of these electric jeepneys will ply through Metro Manila roads by the first quarter of 2019.
