Nissan PH Eyes 20% Sales Growth for 2019
After posting the biggest rise last year despite the effects of the Tax Reform Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Law, the leadership of Nissan Philippines Inc. (NPI) is eyeing a 20-percent increase in sales for 2019.
During the Nissan Terra media drive NPI held recently in Legazpi City in Albay, company boss Ramesh Narasimhan said that while they have enjoyed a 40-percent increase in sales, they are driven to hit the 20 percent-sales growth target.
"My belief, which the team shared, is that if you can dream it, you can do it," he said.
NPI sold 34,952 units in 2018, giving them an 8.7-percent share in the market. The said figure made it one of only two mass-market car manufacturers to post an actual sales growth for the year.
The 2018 sales for NPI was driven by the Nissan Navara--accounting for 46.2 percent in total sales—and the all-new Nissan Terra, which was introduced in May 2018 and contributed 11.9 percent of sales locally.
Other models performed well in the Philippines last year, notably the Nissan Urvan and Nissan Almera, contributing 19.5 percent and 17.5 percent, respectively.
