Senator Poe’s Father-in-Law Hurt After Car Falls from Parking Building
Senator Grace Poe's 83-year-old father-in-law was injured after his car breached the metal barrier at the third floor of a parking complex in Greenhills commercial center in San Juan City.
San Juan City Police Chief Dindo Reyes identified the victim as Teodoro Paraiso-Llamanzares, a retired ear, nose, and throat doctor.
"He is the father-in-law of Sen. Grace Poe," confirmed Senior Superintendent Reyes. "I talked to the husband of the senator awhile ago."
Initial investigation revealed that as Llamanzares attempted to park his grey Toyota Innova on an empty space on the third level of the parking building, he accidentally stepped on the accelerator, causing the vehicle to crash face forward onto the metal railing, then fall to the street. Llamanzares was immediately rushed to Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan City.
According to Reyes, the doctors tending to the victim said that he is now in stable condition, and continues to be monitored.
The incident was not the first occurrence of a car falling from the third floor of the Greenhills parking building. In 2014, an elderly man with a pacemaker felt his chest tighten, causing him to lose control of the vehicle and careen his car off the railing and on to the street below.
