Subaru Germany Bids Goodbye to the BRZ

BRZ
The Subaru BRZ, along with its siblings the Scion FR-S and the Toyota 86, first wowed people at the 2007 North American International Auto Show as a concept car. After five years of waiting, the first production models went out of the assembly line in 2012. After 8 years and amassing a devoted fanbase, the Subaru BRZ is finally saying goodbye—in Germany, at least. BRZ Subaru Germany just released the Subaru BRZ Final Edition this week, and there will only be 100 units available.

The exterior of the BRZ Final Edition remains mostly the same, with its 10-spoke 17 inch alloys, a Brembo brake system with bright red brake calipers, and two different color options: Crystal Black Silica or the optional Blue Pearl. There are new Sachs shock absorbers, but the engine remains the same: a 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine that makes 205 horsepower and 211 Nm of torque. You can opt for either a 6 speed manual or a 6 speed auto, but the latter option will set you back an extra €1,700 (approximately Php 93,000).

BRZ Inside, the sport bucket seats are wrapped in a mix of blue and black leather and Alcantara, with blue stitching adorning the door panels, steering wheel, and instrument panel. The same 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system is carried over from the previous models, along with six-speakers and a dual-zone climate control system. The Subaru BRZ Final Edition starts at €40,270 (Php 2.2 million), and is only available in Germany. There isn’t news yet as to whether or not the Subaru BRZ/Toyota 86 line will be fully discontinued, but some sources say that the two companies are pushing out final editions of the vehicle so we can finally get a 2nd generation model. After eight long years, it’s about time, don’t you think?
