Toyota rolls out C+walk S in Japan

Toyota has rolled out the C+walk S three-wheeled scooter in Japan.

According to the Japanese automotive brand, the Toyota C+walk S measures 1,185 millimeters (mm) long, 650mm wide, and 1,030mm tall, allowing it to fit most Japanese sidewalks. And since it will be used on walkways, the C+walk S is equipped with a brushless direct-current motor system that has a maximum power output of around 0.46 horsepower with a top speed of six kilometers per hour – the typical walking speed of a human being.

Energy, Toyota explained comes from a removable lithium-ion battery with a 13.2 ampere-hour capacity. The C+walk S can reach full charge in just 2.5 hours and can yield an estimated range of approximately 12 kilometers on a single charge.

To bring the Toyota C+walk S to a halt, drum brakes are used on the front wheel while electromagnetic-type brakes are used on the rear wheels.

It rides on 10-inch puncture-proof tires.

Toyota pointed out that the C+walk S was designed and engineered to help the aging population of Japan. On that note, it is equipped with senior-friendly features, like the large display screen on the handlebar. Here, owners can check the three-wheeler’s battery and speed at a glance.

It also comes with safety features, which are obstacle detection, turning speed control, and steep slope detection.

The Toyota C+walk S is a follow-up for the standing-type model C+walk T. It has a base price of ¥498,000 (P207,050) and is now available at Toyota dealers as well as rental and leasing stores in Japan.
