Today's modern world could simply not do without the introduction of cars. Automotive history has evolved so much from the time when Karl Benz created the Benz Patent Motorwagen, considered the first automobile, in 1886. Today, supercars and future flying cars are the norm. We give you 25 of the best mind blowing facts about cars for the past century.
  • Around the world, 60 million cars are produced in a single year. This translates to 165,000 cars a day. Of this, at least a third, or 20 million units are produced in China.
  • If you drive a car towards the moon at a speed of 60 miles per hour, you can reach the moon in six months.
  • The iconic hood ornament on Rolls-Royce cars is called the “Spirit of Ecstasy”. In 2008, a special edition of this ladylike figure was encrusted with diamonds and was sold for $200,000.
  • The world’s lowest street-legal car has a height of only 19 inches and was called the “Flatmobile.” It was owned and built by Perry Watkins of Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom.
