VinFast begins e-moto retail in PH

MANILA: VinFast Philippines officially launched its electric motorcycles (e-motorcycles) to cater to the demand and needs of Filipino motorists looking for a sustainable means of mobility. 

The introduction of the Vietnamese auto firm’s latest offerings appears timely. 

With the erratic fuel prices, it will not be surprising to see Filipino motorists check out an electric two-wheeler. On that note, current electric vehicle (EV) owners could also be easier to convince, and the e-motorcycle platform might also be a gateway for future car owners to choose an electric car from the Haiphong-headquartered brand. 

On that note, here is a quick look at the new models.

ViniFast e-motorcycles

VinFast Viper

The Viper from VinFast is arguably the most appealing from the group since it has striking similarities to internal combustion engine-powered motorbikes in the country. 

Power comes from an electric motor drawing energy from a 1.5-kilowatt-hour (kWh) lithium iron phosphate battery. The motorcycle can take two batteries, with one providing a range of 82 kilometers (km), and two giving the rider up to 145 km. 

Speed peaks at 90 kilometers per hour (kph), which is close to what one can get from small-displacement, gasoline-running scooters. 

Here are some of its features: 

• TFT display 
• Smart key system 
• LED lights 
• Spacious footrest 

Its starting price is P73,900. 

VinFast Evo

The VinFast Evo will attract customers who not only like to ride, but also want to look good while doing it. With design language mimicking the classic bikes in Europe, it combines class and sustainability. 

Adopting the same powertrain system, it rides up to 85 km on a single battery and up to 150 km on two batteries. It has a top speed of 80 kph, which iss still pretty decent. 

For P62,900, would-be owers will be treated to the below features: 

• LED lights 
• Wide footrest 
• Hydraulic shock absorbers 
• 4.8-inch LED instrumentation 

VinFast Feliz II

For those who want to ride an e-motorcycle without standing out, the VinFast Feliz II would be a good pick. 

It uses the same powertrain layout with a 1.5 kWh battery that allows it to go as far as 82 km with just one pack and up to 145 km with two batteries. Its speed is limited to 90 kph. 

Features include: 

• Spacious footboard 
• Shock absorbers 
• LED lights 
• Color LED display 

Its base price is P64,900.
