Volkswagen unveils Golf R 333

Volkswagen has unveiled the aptly-named limited-edition Golf R 333.

According to the German carmaker, it will have a power of 333 Pferdstarke — approximately 328 horsepower (hp) — and will be produced with only 333 examples.

“The Golf R 333 is the first R model with a specification predefined by us that leaves no customer wishes regarding performance unfulfilled — thanks to its extensive equipment,” Volkswagen R Head of Product Marketing Hakim Halimi was quoted saying.

Other unique features offered by the Volkswagen Golf R 333 include a black front lip, side skirts, a rear diffuser, and a roof-mounted spoiler. Further, it gets the R Performance exhaust system from Akrapovič with titanium rear silencers and black 19-inch Estoril wheel rims with semi-slick tires.

Moreover, the Volkswagen Golf R 333 wears a Lime Yellow Metallic paintwork comprised of Pure White, Lapiz Blue Metallic, and Deep Black Pearl Effect.

“With the special exterior color, black-painted roof, and design decals with the 333 logos on the sides, this Golf R will be offered in a combination that is unique up to now. It is the first Volkswagen R model with a strict limitation to 333 units and with a sequentially numbered badge in the interior,” Halimi added.

Inside, the Volkswagen Golf R 333 offers premium sport seats in Nappa leather (with integrated head restraint), a three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel with blue accent stitching, a driver-oriented instrument cluster and infotainment system, and a premium sound system from Harman Kardon.

Power will come from an optimized engine that produces 420 Newton-meters of torque on top of the aforementioned 328 hp. The turbocharged engine allows the limited-edition Volkswagen Golf R 333 to go from a standstill to 100 kilometers per hour (kph) in just 4.6 seconds. Speed peaks at 270 kph.

Additionally, the R-Performance Torque Vectoring with Vehicle Dynamics Manager distributes the drive power not just between the front and rear axles but also between the two rear wheels to provide better traction for most driving conditions.

The Drift and Special driving profiles, designed for the Nürburgring racetrack, also offer additional driving pleasure away from public roads.

The Volkswagen Golf R 333 is priced at €76,410 (approximately P4.587 million). The first batch will be turned over to owners starting October.
