WATCH: Mini releases ‘Driving Home for Christmas’ video featuring Chris Rea

Mini has released a "Driving Home for Christmas" music video on its official YouTube channel featuring the global Mini community and Chris Rea — the English rock and blues singer-songwriter and guitarist who wrote the aforementioned Christmas song.

The timely video reflects the age-old tradition of going home to the people we love and want to spend the upcoming holidays with. Shown are clips of real Mini drivers making their way to their families braving the highway, the motorway, a gravel road, or a country road covered in winter snow.

It also holds some level of significance as Chris Rea himself wrote the music "Driving Home for Christmas" inside a Mini.

On Christmas Eve 1978, Chris Rea was stuck in London and needed to get home to Middlesbrough. His wife, Joan, drove 250 miles to collect him in their black classic Mini. As they journeyed back in the snow, inspiration struck.

The production of the video also highlights the British premium car manufacturer's current brand campaign entitled "Big Love." Mini says that the motto is an expression of diversity embraced in practice in all its forms, welcoming fresh thinking and new ideas no matter where they come from.

The Mini community's characteristic blend of individuality and the sense of belonging together plays a central role here. The diversity of this community is summed up by the slogan "We are all different, but pretty good together."
