Wheel Clamping in BGC to Start This Weekend

In its bid to enhance traffic in the area, the real estate management services behind Bonifacio Global City (BGC) is set to implement wheel clamping operations on illegally parked vehicles starting Sunday, April 15, 2018.

The said operations is in support of the local ordinance (Barangay Fort Bonifacio Ordinance 14-033), which was designed to prevent congestion, enhance traffic flow, and to support BGC's pedestrian priority programs.

Under the said ordinance, unattended vehicles parked on the street will automatically be clamped until the tow truck arrives. However, should the driver arrive before the vehicle is fitted with a wheel clamp, he will receive a Unified Official Valuation Receipt (UOVR).

If the vehicle has already been fitted with a wheel clamp, the driver of the said vehicle will be fined PHP1,000.

Further, the unauthorized removal of the wheel clamp, its destruction, disfiguration, and/or defacing it carries a PHP1,000 penalty "plus the cost of repair or replacement of the damaged wheel clamp."

With that, everyone is encouraged and advised to maximize the more than 5,000 public parking slots within the city through the help of the new BGC app, which can be downloaded for both Android and iOS devices.

Through the BGC app, motorists can get real-time information on parking availability and navigation.
