World Cup of Cars Fight for Third: Brazil vs. Netherlands
For the Netherlands and Brazil, there is still much to prove. The battle for third place between the two countries might not be as important as the FIFA finals match, but the matchup could still give us a hint about who will win between Argentina and Germany. Brazil received a beating from the Germans 7-1, while the Netherlands gave Argentina a run for their money, resulting in a 2-4 shootout. While these teams are still hurting for their missed chance of the FIFA cup, each one still wants to prove their mettle. Brazil still has the home crowd behind them, and the Netherlands still has to uphold their 1st runner up position in the 2010 soccer tournament. Predicting the outcome using cars is a daunting task as to win this match a team must have passion. Carmudi looked for the most passionate cars in both countries and faced those head on in a world cup of cars comparison test:

Netherlands - Renault Clio

The Renault Clio is a 5-door hatchback or estate car and is one of the favorite rides among the Dutch. This series started out in the supermini segment in 1990. Its latest generation which started in 2012, however, has an extended body length, almost that of a compact car. Much like the Netherlands team this car just keeps on improving. Among the latest generation’s remarkable features are: hands free technology, rear camera, a dashboard multi-information system with 50 applications and a six-speed double clutch automatic gearbox. We reviewed the 0.9 liter gasoline variant and found it truly astonishing.

Tale of the Kick

Power Output: 90 horsepower Maximum Torque: 135 Nm Top Speed: 182 kph 0-100 kph acceleration: 12.2 seconds Combined Fuel Consumption: 22.2 km/L Price: $25,692

Brazil - Ford Fiesta

There is no better way to lighten up your driving experience than to ride a Ford Fiesta. This supermini car is known for its modest price and low fuel consumption. The Fiesta is the preferred car model of one of the most influential spiritual leaders in the world- Pope Francis, of the Roman Catholic faith. We looked into the 1.0 liter diesel  Zetec -S form variant and found ourselves wanting one. Over  16 million units of the Fiesta series have been sold since 1976, making it one of Ford’s best nameplates. The numbers below speak for themselves.

Power Output: 123 horsepower Maximum Torque: 170 Nm Top Speed: 196 kph 0-100 kph acceleration: 9.4 seconds Combined Fuel Consumption: 15.7 km/L Price: $26,395

Verdict

The Brazilian team may have a lot of strong players, but with star striker Neymar gone, the team has slumped. On the other hand, the Netherlands has been consistent all throughout the competition, even getting revenge on previous cup titlist Spain who beat them in the finals last 2010. As far as passion and proving something to their fans, the Netherlands has better fuel efficiency. We predict 3-0 for the Dutch.

Brazil 0 3 Netherlands
