World Superbike Final Race Called Off Due to Thunderstorms
Race 2 of the Qatar Round of World Superbike Championship was canceled following severe rain and sandstorm prior to the race proper on Sunday, October 28.
When the storms hit the Losail circuit in Qatar, organizers called the race of amid concerns for the riders' safety.
The cancelation denied World Superbike champion Jonathan Rea of the chance to break the current record of 17 wins in a single season set by Doug Polen.
Northern Irishman Rea was also robbed of the opportunity to beat his own record of points won in a season, finishing 21 points short of the 566-point total he accumulated last year.
