Hongqi E-HS9

The Hongqi E-HS9 features a luxurious cabin that offers an abundance of soft-touch materials and premium finishes. Upfront, you are greeted by a high-tech multi-screen interaction layout, which consists of a digital instrument panel, center infotainment display, and a front passenger display for a more personalized entertainment experience. This SUV’s infotainment system offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity, USB, AUX, as well as voice control. The Hongqi E-HS9 utilizes a suspension combination of a MacPherson Strut at the front and a Multi-Link at the rear. This suspension setup allows this SUV to effortlessly absorb bumps and other unpleasant road imperfections. It also delivers great stability and grip on the open road. However, this setup is a bit lacking in terms of weight concealment. Its pretty hefty build is very noticeable when you are hitting sharp turns and corners spiritedly and/or passing through traffic at low speeds. The Hongqi E-HS9 runs on dual electric motors that generate a power output of 551 hp. Its electric powertrain is powered by a 92.5 kWh Lithium-Ion battery pack that delivers a driving range of up to 510 km. This SUV’s motor is mated to a single-speed automatic transmission system.

This SUV is impressively quick off the line, with plenty of power on tap. Thanks to its electric motors’ smooth, linear power delivery, it can effortlessly overtake slower vehicles on free-flowing highways. In the city, it also offers top-notch efficiency and a very relaxing, quiet ride. Overall, this luxury SUV is a beast on the highway, yet remains very usable and refined for everyday city commute and occasional out-of-town trips.  

The Hongqi E-HS9 model line comes with advanced driver assistance systems. It is equipped with a super adaptive cruise control, auto park assist, front collision warning, blind spot detection, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, rear cross traffic alert, autonomous emergency braking, and multiple driving modes (e.g., all-terrain, comfort, and sport). Its braking setup is also supported by an electronic stability program. This SUV comes with ventilated discs for front braking, while regular discs for the rear.

Considering its pretty hefty price, the Hongqi E-HS9 caters to a more niche segment of local consumers. That said, for discerning buyers who are looking for an electrified, luxury full-size SUV, the E-HS9 will definitely leave a great impression. It not only looks premium inside and out, but also feels very comfortable and luxurious on the road.
