Lexus RX

The Lexus RX features a luxurious-looking cabin that offers a blend of high-tech features and premium soft-touch materials. Up front, you are greeted by Lexus’ Tazuna cockpit designed for driver-centric performance and accessibility. This consists of a 12.3-inch digital display, a leather-wrapped multi-control steering wheel with a paddle shifter, and a conventional-looking gear lever.

In terms of convenience and added functionality, the RX is also equipped with multiple USB ports (Type-A and Type-C), a power outlet/accessory socket, a wireless charger, multiple cubbies and door pockets, as well as Lexus’ Climate Concierge technology. All trims come with a multi-color ambient lighting system. However, only the top-spec and mid trims are fitted with a moonroof and a panoramic roof, respectively.

The Lexus RX exudes a mix of confidence and elegance wherever it goes. It looks bold and sophisticated at the same time, highlighted by Lexus’ signature L-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs) and modern chrome spindle grille. The top-spec 500h F Sport Performance features an exclusive seamless grille finished in black for a sportier demeanor. The higher trims feature 3-projector bi-beam LED headlamps with an auto-leveling system, while the base 350h Executive gets the single-projector version. The RX is also equipped with LED front fog lamps for enhanced visibility, especially at night.

On the sides, the top-spec and mid trims are fitted with 21-inch aluminum wheels with their respective rims, while the base variant gets the 19-inch counterparts finished in dark gray metallic. Its aluminum wheels perfectly complement its sharp, aerodynamic-looking silhouette, accentuated by a sloping roofline design, some chrome accents, and door mirrors with integrated LED turn signal lamps.

Moreover, at the back, it features L-shaped LED tail lights connected by a slim light bar, giving it a hypermodern appeal on the road. It comes with another pair of LED fog lights and a hands-free power tailgate for enhanced passenger convenience and safety. 

In terms of dimensions, the Lexus RX model line measures 4,890 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,695 mm in height. This 5-seater luxury SUV also comes with a 2,850-mm wheelbase.

In terms of suspension, all trims of the Lexus RX are equipped with MacPherson Struts at the front and a Multi-Link at the rear. The top-spec and mid variants’ suspension setups are also supported by Lexus’ Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) technology, resulting in a more adaptable and plush riding experience across different road conditions. This luxury SUV soaks up bumps and other road imperfections with ease. It also feels quite nimble to maneuver for an electrified SUV. Overall, the RX’s chassis is tuned more for comfort (with a little bit of sportiness). 

The Lexus RX offers two hybrid powertrain options. First, the 350h trims are powered by a combination of a 2.5L in-line 4-cylinder, twin cam, 16-valve gasoline engine, which delivers 140 kW (188 hp) of maximum power and 239 Nm of maximum torque, and front and rear electric motors, generating a total system power output of 184 kW (247 hp).

Meanwhile, the higher-performance 500h trim is powered by a combination of a 2.4L in-line 4-cylinder, twin cam, 16-valve turbocharged gasoline engine, which produces 200 kW (268 hp) of maximum power and 460 Nm of maximum torque, and another dual-motor setup, delivering a higher total system power output of 273 kW (366 hp). 

All trims are fitted with Lexus’ electric all-wheel-drive (E-Four) technology. The top-spec variant comes mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission system, while the base and mid trims run on continuously variable transmission. 

The RX model line is also equipped with four selectable driving modes: Eco, Normal, Sport, and Custom. Regardless of the powertrain, this luxury SUV can get up to speed without much fuss while remaining refined and economical in heavy traffic conditions. Its NVH suppression system is also superb, resulting in a quiet and comfortable riding experience, even at high speeds. 

The Lexus RX model line features the brand’s Safety System technology, which consists of a pre-collision system, dynamic radar cruise control, lane tracing assist, lane departure alert, lane changing assist, a speed limiter, automatic high beam, an adaptive high beam system, an emergency driving stop system, a safe exit assist system with door opening control, and a blind spot monitoring system, among others. 

Additionally, this luxury SUV comes with front and rear ventilated disc brakes. Its braking setup is also supported by an anti-lock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution, a traction control system, vehicle stability control, and a brake assist system.
