Mitsubishi XForce Review

Mitsubishi XForce Overview
Mitsubishi Motors made a forceful entry in the Philippines’ subcompact crossover scene with the release of the Mitsubishi XForce. This mini SUV was designed using the brand’s DST concept alongside the Triton and the Destinator. It features a unique and highly-appealing exterior look that innovates the way we view modern vehicles. It is engineered to give a dynamic driving experience. Currently, it is available in two variants - the lower variant, GLS 1.5G 2WD CVT and the higher variant, GT 1.5G 2WD CVT. The former is priced at ₱1.367 million, while the latter is at ₱1.581 million. It is available in four two-tone colours: Energetic Yellow Metallic, Quartz White Pearl, Graphite Gray Metallic, and Blade Silver Metallic (for GLS only).

Mitsubishi XForce Interior
Inside, the Mitsubishi XForce is created with a right mix of technology and premium soft-touch materials. It has a spacious cabin that is also designed to suit the needs of passengers from countries within the ASEAN region. Hence, the vehicle’s frame is adaptable to the different road conditions of the said countries. Seats of the GT variant are made with synthetic leather with heat guard that have a black with brown trim. On the other hand, the GLS variant has seats that are made with black and gray fabric upholstery. However, only the GT variant is equipped with ambient lighting inside.
Aside from this, both variants are equipped with a 12.3-inch touchscreen multi-media system that has smart phone link display audio, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity, USB ports, and the traditional AM/FM radio. Overall, the XForce’s interior not only offers comfort, but also accessibility and hi-tech entertainment.

Mitsubishi XForce Exterior
Walking around the Mitsubishi XForce is visually enjoyable as it has a sleek futuristic look that exudes a great balance of sophistication and assertiveness. Its signature T-shaped head and tail lamps as well as its dynamic shield give it a unique appearance among its fellow crossovers. Both variants have LED DRLs and fog lights along with electrically-adjustable power folding side door mirrors. However, only the GT variant has an auto-lighting control feature for its headlights.
Its two-tone colour also enhances the XForce’s appearance on the road. In my opinion, this is one of the most visually-appealing vehicles that Mitsubishi has to offer at the present time. In terms of dimensions, the Mitsubishi XForce is 4,390 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width, and 1,660 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,650 mm and a minimum ground clearance of 193 mm.

Mitsubishi XForce Ride & Handling
The Mitsubishi XForce makes use of a suspension combination of a MacPherson strut with coil spring and stabilizer at the front, while a torsion beam at the rear. This vehicle’s light steering and responsive turning are all thanks to this combination. For crossover standards, this car is comfortable to ride on when cruising in the city.
-
Mitsubishi XForce Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Mitsubishi XForce is powered by a 1.5L, in-line 4 gasoline engine with MIVEC that produces a maximum power output of 105 PS and a maximum torque of 141 Nm. It runs on continuously variable transmission. And, yes, you read that correctly, only 105 PS of power for a “mini SUV.” A lackluster engine with minimal power is the XForce’s main issue. Since this has poor power output for a subcompact crossover, it is not advisable for overtaking or driving at aggressive speeds.
In the city, however, it still offers a smooth driving experience overall. Another great thing with this model is that it is fuel-efficient regardless if you are stuck in traffic or passing through free-flowing highways. On top of this, it is also adaptable on the road since it has four drive modes: Normal, Gravel, Mud, and Wet. This just shows us that the XForce’s dynamic or adaptable nature makes up for its unexciting power.
-
Mitsubishi XForce Braking & Safety
Similar to newer-gen Mitsubishi vehicles, the XForce is also equipped with the Mitsubishi Motors Safety Sensing system, which offers multiple advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) to ensure a secured and peaceful ride for everyone. This sensing system provides adaptive cruise control, leading car departure notification, automatic high beam, rear cross traffic alert, active stability and traction control, hill start assist, systems for forward collision mitigation and blind spot warning, and the brand’s active yaw control, which improves the vehicle’s stability on slippery roads. In terms of braking, this car utilizes discs for both front and rear, which are equipped with an assistance feature.
-
Mitsubishi XForce Verdict
Honestly, the Mitsubishi XForce would still be considered an impractical buy considering the cheaper prices of other crossovers in the market. However, if you are looking for a vehicle that moves lightly like a crossover but has a body of an SUV (plus a highly-appealing look to go with it), then the XForce is a good choice for you.
