Subaru Impreza Latest Updates
The new-look 2020 Subaru Impreza was reportedly scheduled for launch at this year’s Manila International Auto Show, but the cancellation of the event has resulted in the delay of the car’s local unveiling. The Subaru sedan powertrain remains unchanged, housing the same 2.0-liter boxer engine under the hood. This engine delivers 154 hp and 196 Nm of torque, and links to a Lineartronic continuously variable transmission along with Subaru’s signature Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. Built on Subaru’s next-generation Subaru Global Platform, the Impreza remains as sporty as ever with its hawk-eye headlamps, wide stance, and beefy wheel arches. The Subaru Impreza goes against the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla Altis in its segment, and starts at PHP 1,508,000. The WRX versions cost PHP 1,980,000 (WRX 2.0 6MT), PHP 2,158,000 (WRX 2.0 CVT EyeSight) and PHP 2,848,000 (WRX STI 2.5 6MT). A five-seater sedan, the Impreza keeps its occupants entertained with a 6-speaker touchscreen system with USB, Aux, and Bluetooth connectivity.

Subaru Impreza Review
Subaru Impreza Overview
Irrespective of which segment of cars people love, no one can deny the fact that sedans are hard to be ignored. And needless to say, the Philippines market has loads of sedans available for prospective buyers to choose from.
One of the many sedans that impress the enthusiasts is the Subaru Impreza. Priced around the PHP 1.5 million range, the Imprezza is nothing less than a premium sedan with features that would impress anyone around. It has an aggressive styling up front and carries the same all across.
It competes against other popular cars in the segment, in the form of the Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid and the Honda Civic. Even the Kia Forte is a prominent competitor to the car.
Subaru Impreza Interior
The buyers won’t get a complete grip of the premium feel of the interior until they step inside the cabin. Many futuristic elements are quite surprising for a car in this range. Firstly, the analog-digital driver’s display is standard. The centre of the dashboard gets an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment display that gets connectivity features, like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
If that is not enough, there is also a small display over the dashboard that is covered with a hood. This small display shows a lot of information about the car, including the time, fuel range, etc. Leather upholstery is also a standard addition to the list. As for comfort, the cabin gets dual-zone automatic climate control too.
Subaru Impreza Exterior
The Subaru Impreza is sane and classy. It does not have very strong designing elements as the Honda Civic and is more about smoothness all around. The front section has sleek headlamps’ clusters projector units. The grille has a decent amount of chrome with mesh air intake design. Even the fog lamp housing gets an element of chrome on it.
The sedan rides on 17-inch aluminium alloy wheels that are designed to be sharp. The rear section gets split headlamps at the tailgate and a shark-fin antenna at the top. The sides have quite a lot of curves and contours as well.
Subaru Impreza Ride & Handling
The Subaru Impreza glides at high speeds and does not feel unstable at all. The reason why this is considered to be a good addition in the aerodynamics is the power, which is good enough to propel it to triple-digit speeds in just a few seconds.
The suspension system is tuned well to ensure that the car offers a compliant ride. The travel isn’t too soft and neither is too hard to hurt your spine. The 17-inch wheels have 205 mm tyres that grip the turf well.
Subaru Impreza Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Subaru Impreza has a gem under its hood in the form of a 2.0-litre mill. The 4-cylinder engine is mated to a Lineartronic CVT engine that is smooth on the shifts on all speed sections.
The engine is capable of producing a maximum power of 156 hp at 6,000 rpm, along with a peak torque of 196 Nm, which kicks in at 4,000 rpm. This produced power is sent to all the four wheels via a Symmetrical AWD drivetrain.
Subaru Impreza Braking & Safety
And while talking about power and performance, it is indispensable to talk about the braking too. The sedan gets disc brakes for all the wheels that perform well under pressure. However, to increase efficiency and safety, there is an addition of ABS and electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist.
The safety inside the cabin is taken care of by a barrage of airbags, for the driver, front passenger, side, curtain, and knees. The electronic doors get the speed-sensing feature too.
Subaru Impreza Verdict
The Subaru Impreza is a joy to own and drive. It might not be a sporty and dashing-looking sedan, unlike the Civic, but nails all the other features. It is one of the safest sedans to be in at the given price point, has a big cargo space, and a very comfortable and futuristic cabin.
It is the best option to choose when it comes to a combination of features and power at the same time. And needless to say, with the PHP 1.5 million price tag (showroom price), it can be a great upgrade from your present B-segment sedan.
