Jianghuai Automobile Corporation or JAC Motors is a Chinese state-owned automotive manufacturer of passenger and commercial vehicles, based in Anhui Province, China. JAC is considered one of the top ten largest vehicle producers in China, with an annual production capacity of over 500,000 units.
The company was founded in 1964 and was then known as the Hefei Jianghuai Automobile Factory, which started out producing commercial vehicles. JAC made an initial public offering in the Shanghai Stock Exchange in 2001. In 2009, the company had reached a sales revenue of 3 million dollars from its 310,000 units sold. Of this figure, more than 12,100 units were sold overseas.
Flagship car products
The most recognizable car from the Chinese brand is the JAC Refine, a seven to twelve-seater which comes in either a multipurpose vehicle (MPV) or van body style. This car uses a 2.0 liter gasoline engine which produces 174 horsepower and 260 Nm of torque. Its design and specifications match some of the best selling asian utility vehicles (APV) in the country, such as the Toyota Innova.
Three other popular passenger car products from the company are: the sedan JAC Citipony and the sports utility vehicle (SUV) JAC Rein.
Mitsui Trading Philippines (MTP) is the local importer of JAC products in the country. MTP started out in 1996 as a distributor and dealer of vehicles, as well as spare parts and accessories. Since then, the company has provided affordable automotive products in the local market.
Metro Manila dealership
JAC has at least three dealerships in the National Capital Region (NCR), located in Quezon and Caloocan City. They also have regional centers in Isabela, Pampanga, Laguna, and Iloilo. Currently, they have two authorized service centers- one in Baguio City and the other in Makati City.
In 2010, this Chinese auto manufacturer built the all-electric car JAC J3 EV,which can travel 130 kilometers on a single charge. In 2013, it was declared as the second best selling pure electric vehicle in China, overtaking its rival the Chery QQ3 EV.
