50 Contraband Luxury Vehicles Donated to PNP, AFP, LGU Santa Ana
It's the right time to be a member of the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, and the local government of Santa Ana, Cagayan these days. Where else can you serve your country, wear a uniform, and drive 50 luxury cars that include a Hummer, Pajero--or even a Porsche Cayenne for free?
Yes, you heard it right. These impounded, contraband luxury vehicles were donations ordered by no less than President Rodrigo Duterte himself.
According to CEZA Administrator and Chief Executive Officer Raul L. Lambino, these vehicles are just part of the "first batch of the deeds of donations to respective donees."
Some of the 50 luxury vehicles that were donated include: 11 Hummers, 11 Miniwagons, 21 Starex vans, 2 Toyota Bbs, 1 Honda Fit, 1 Jeep Wrangler, 1 Porsche Cayenne, 1 Toyota Granvia, and 1 Mitsubishi Pajero.
And of the 50 cars donated by the government, 18 went to the Cagayan police.
"CEZA is hopeful that these vehicles could be useful to the recipients, and be put to good use instead of letting them rot in the port yard's," he added.
Meanwhile, the second batch will be given soon, once CEZA's created committee makes an "inventory and document the vehicles as well as coordinate with the Bureau of Customs."
"Once the execution of the deed of donation is realized, the donee can take the vehicle for immediate registration to the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and pay the taxes due to the government," he said.
It can be remembered that President Duterte condemned and publicly destroyed 68 illegally imported luxury cars at the freeport last July 30, 2018. During the event, the President was seen telling Lambino to give out the the vehicles to the police and the military, and the local governments in Cagayan province.
