Aboard the expansive Ford Expedition

It was once among the few automotive symbols of wealth in the country, and now, the latest Ford Expedition looks set to continue what its late 1990s predecessor stood for.

To start with, the Expedition's P4 million-plus price tag brings with it an exterior size that's as large as private jet's. The yank tank's styling is decorated like fancy jewelry, too, with chrome details and spiffy alloys.

Moving all the heft is a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine with 375hp and 569Nm of torque, which has a fuel economy rating that's more ideal for deep pockets.

For its size and price, the Expedition should certainly be filled to the roof with luxury features.

Amenities

Ford-ExpeditionThe eight-seater cabin of the Expedition carries 12-speakers for its Sony audio system, which are linked to a Sync3 infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities. The Sync3's screen can display the imagery from 360-degree and reversing camera, and the built-in navigation.

Meanwhile, those Android or Apple phones or what have you can be charged via four 12-volt power points, a 110-volt power outlet, and six USB chargers. A Wi-Fi hotspot can also be set up, and the dual-headrest rear seat entertainment system offer more entertainment for passengers.

The Expedition's sliding second-row seats with tip-and-slide functionality  make access to the third row easier even with a child safety seat installed. It's the first for a full-size SUV, Ford said. Speaking of the leather seats, they are finished in a shade called Brunello.

The big SUV is generous in cargo space, as well. If more space for luggage is needed, a push of a button electronically folds flat the second and third-row seats.

Ford-ExpeditionTo top all the interior amenities, the Expedition carries a panoramic sunroof that stretches from the first to the second row, and providing a bit more light to the cabin's rearmost pew.

Safety

Airbags on the Expedition cabin's sides and roof offer full protection, as do the seatbelt pretensioners. The seatbelts automatically tighten to hold the occupant in a better seating position during a collision.

But the Expedition aims to prevent accidents through its blind spot information system, hill-start assist, and stability control. When the vehicle is towing a trailer, its Trailer Tow Package features its own stability control.
