Acura NSX GT3 Dominates 2020 GT World Challenge America

Team Racers Edge Motorsports valiantly defended its SRO GT World Challenge America championship as it took its Acura NSX GT3 Evo to two overall wins at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. Power duo of Trent Hindman and Shelby Blackstock joined 2019 drivers' crown winners Martin Barkey and Kyle Marcelli of Racers Edge Pro/Am. Hindman and Blackstock placed first by more than 21 seconds in the 12-turn, 3.427-mile COTA circuit during the Saturday's opening race. The duo followed it up with another victory in Sunday's event. The team also had the fastest laps in both of the weekend's races. Meanwhile, defending pro champion Barkey and Marcelli had a more challenging weekend altogether as they ranked an overall fifth and fourth in class in the opener on Saturday, and then garnered a post-race penalty after a mid-race contact on Sunday. They lost three positions due to that penalty, and placed them ninth overall in Race 2. Blackstock showed his expertise behind the wheel of the Acura, which resulted to two first-place wins. "It's a total team effort. The team kept pushing, continued to really advance the car all weekend and it kept getting better. The Acura NSX GT3 Evo was amazing all day long, and we had great tire performance. I can't say enough about this team and this car." Co-driver Hindman also won various races in the NSX GT3 Evo during his first weekend in GT World Challenge America competition, and currently drives another NSX GT3 Evo for Meyer Shank Racing in IMSA GTD endurance-racing challenge.  “Shelby’s [Blackstock, co-driver> first race in GT3, and his first in the NSX GT3 Evo, and he brings home the win.I think that goes to show the quality of the NSX, and of the wholeprogram. Getting two wins in two races is a great way to start the year, but we’ve got a lot more work to do the rest of this season.” The victories this weekend shows the first victories of the Acura NSX GT3 Evo for 2020. Last year, they won both championships in IMSA GTD and the SRO GT World Challenge series.
