ADVISORY: 13 roads in CAR closed to traffic as ‘Egay’ ravages PH

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) shared that a total of 13 roads in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) have been closed to vehicular traffic as Super Typhoon Egay (international name is Doksuri) ravages portions of the northern part of the Philippines.

Below are the number of closed roads (due to soil collapses, fallen trees, mudflow) based on the report as of Wednesday (July 26) noontime:

Abra (due to soil collapse and fallen trees)

• Abra-Ilocos Norte Road (intermittent section)
• Abra-Ilocos Sur Road (intermittent section)
• Abra-Kalinga Road (intermittent section)

Benguet

• Kennon Road in Camp 6, Tuba (due soil collapse and rock fall)
• Shilan-Beckel Road in Shilan, La Trinidad (due to soil erosion)

Apayao (due to soil erosion)

• Apayao-Ilocos Norte Road in Madduang, Kabugao
• Claveria - Calanasan - Kabugao Road in Makadig Section, Rabaw Section and K0683+240 - K0683+270 in Naguilian and K0699+310 - K0699+330 in Ferdinand, Calanasan

Kalinga (due to soil erosion)

• Mountain Province-Calanan-Pinukpuk-Abbut Road in Mallango, Tinglayan
• Lubuagan-Batong Buhay-Abra Bdry Road in Puapo, Dangtalan, Pasil 

Mountain Province (due to soil erosion)

• Baguio-Bontoc Road, sections K0347+090 - 0347+180 in Mount Data, Bauko; K0359+800 Tabbak Secion, Namatec, Sabangan; K0367+400 - K367+450, Bun-ayan, Sabangan; and K0379+850, Malitep, Bontoc
• Province - Nueva Vizcaya Road K0385+000 - K0385+015 and K0384+900 - K0384+950 sections in Samoki
• Province -Ilocos Sur via Tue Road, K0400+900 - K0400+910 and K0401+200 - K0401+220 sections in Balaoa, Tadian; and K0403+300 - K0403+305 section in Cabunagan, Tadian
• Province - Cagayan via Tabuk - Enrile Road, K0407+800 - K0407+810 Tigil Section, Betwagan, Sadanga

On the same report, the department shared that four roads within CAR as well as MIMAROPA (Mindoro Oriental and Occidental, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan) have limited access due to soil collapse and flooding  namely:

• Abra-Ilocos Norte Road K0422+898 - K0422+903, Abaroan, Danglas, Abra (one-lane passable due to soil collapse)
• Banaue-Hunduan-Benguet Boundary Road, K0355+960 - K0355+985, Bokiawan, Hunduan, Ifugao (one-lane passable due to soil collapse)
• Governor Bado Dangwa National Road, K0313+450 - K0313+470, Poblacion, Kibungan, Benguet (one-lane passable due to soil collapse)
• Calapan South Road K0182+278, Barangay Campaasan, Bulalacao, Mindoro Oriental (flooded, passable to heavy vehicles only)

 Meanwhile, motorists are advised to take alternate routes while the DPWH clears up the aforementioned road sections affected by the bad weather condition.
