Auto Expo 2020: Maxus G10 to be Marketed Under MG in India

MG Motors and Maxus, both owned by SAIC Motor, are now sharing a car. What we know locally as the Maxus G10 will now be rebranded and sold as an MG vehicle, in India at least. The G10 is Maxus’ entry in the competitive MPV market. Marketed as a luxury MPV that is available in 7, 9, or 10 seater configurations, the G10 is a promising people carrier that rivals the likes of the well-established Toyota Innova. Car rebadging, or badge engineering, is a practice most automakers often engage in. Sharing platforms, designs, or car parts, it is not uncommon to see similar looking cars under different brands. GMC is famous for this, producing one car and letting it assume a variety of identities. In India, the Maxus G10 will be sold under the MG brand, possibly adapting the same G10 name. This makes the MG MPV compete with best sellers like the Maruti Ertiga and the Toyota Innova Crysta. The MG MPV will debut at the Auto Expo 2020.   The G10 is already available in China and some countries in South East Asia, including the Philippines. Locally, the G10 is fitted with a low displacement 1.9 liter diesel engine that comes with a 6 speed automatic transmission. The powertrain can deliver 148 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. Exterior features include sliding doors on each side of the vehicles, projector halogen headlights, 16-inch alloy wheels, and front and rear foglamps. Inside, the G10 offers maximum comfort for each of its 9 passengers, including leather lined captain’s chairs for the middle row passengers, and a 3 seater bench at the back. A 220V power supply is available inside the cabin so you can plug in your electronics without the need for a 12V socket, and there’s also a 7 inch touch screen infotainment system with USB and Bluetooth connections. The G10 is also equipped with multiple safety features such as anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), a reverse camera, and front and rear parking sensors. The Maxus G10 is available in five color options, namely (1) Silver, (2) Gray, (3) White, (4) Gold, and (5) Black. CarDekho named the MG MPV one of the Top 40 Most Exciting Cars Coming To Auto Expo 2020. The MPV will be a welcome addition to the MG lineup in India, which only has two cars: the MG Hector and the MG ZS EV. It will debut at the Auto Expo 2020 which will take place at the India Expo Mart, Knowledge Park 2, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The Auto Expo starts at February 7, 2020 but will be open to the public starting from the 8th all the way up to the 12th of February, from 11 am to 8 pm.
