AVID Ends First Half of 2017 with 6% Growth
The Association of Vehicle Importers and Distributors (AVID) ended the first half of 2017 with its total sales at 48,348 units--a six percent growth over the same period last year with 45,470 units. The organization's quarter-on- quarter sales performance was also on an uptick as the second quarter of 2017 registered sales at 25,031 units, a slight increase from the 23,317 units sold in the first quarter of the year.
AVID's Passenger Car segment grew by 13 percent with 18,773 units for the first half of 2017 versus the 16,644 units sold for the same period a year ago. Among AVID's members, leading the segment is Hyundai Asia Resources (HARI) with 12,039 units or 64 percent of AVID's passenger car sales for the period.
AVID's Light Commercial Vehicle sales also grew with a three percent increase at 48,348 units from January to June 2017 in comparison to the 45,470 units sold for the same period in 2016. Leading the segment among AVID's members is Ford Philippines as it accounts for 16,209 of the units sold.
"AVID delivered 48,348 vehicles nationwide for the first semester of the year, improving by six percent from the same period in 2016," said AVID President Maria Fe Perez-Agudo. "To sustain this positive trend, AVID will continue on its quest to innovate its products and services in response to the ever-changing customer needs."
