Audi Q7

The Q7 has a 7-seater cabin that is decked out in leather upholstery. The new dashboard integrated more horizontal flowing lines to achieve a cleaner and more elegant look. The vehicle comes with two touch-screen infotainment displays: the first is an 8.3-inch high-resolution display which is connected to the Audi Sound System. On the other hand, a 12.3-inch display is dedicated solely for the Audi Virtual Cockpit. The front seats have power adjustments, with the driver’s seat also offering a memory function. The vehicle is also equipped with 4-zone automatic air conditioning.

The first thing you’d notice is the upgraded front fascia which features Audi’s signature octagon-shaped ‘Singleframe’ front grille that includes six horizontal crossbars which give it a bolder look. The LED daytime running lights are now also positioned within the headlight assembly, allowing for more space to fit larger air vents. The body has taken on sharper lines, makes the vehicle look more refined for its size. In addition to that, the Q7 is now also more lightweight thanks to increased aluminium use for the build which includes panels such as the hood, fenders, and doors.

The Q7 has a steady hum but powerful performance. The Q7 promises a quiet ride with barely any encounters with road noises. Its most noticeable quirk while driving is the linear steering. While generally convenient, it has received comments that this may suggest the handling isn’t completely intuitive compared to the likes of the Range Rover Sport. The latter is capable of subtle responsiveness and an excellent rate of turn--something that the Audi Q7 doesn’t exactly meet. This can make driving the Q7 feel like there’s less body control. Audi is offering an option to upgrade to an adaptive air suspension. However, the standard suspension still does the job in providing an overall smooth driving experience.

Additionally, despite being a crossover, the Q7 is more ideal for city driving. While it can probably handle a muddy drive, other terrains might prove to be more than challenging. For those considering off-road adventures, this might not be the best choice. Audi is currently not offering rugged upgrades for the Q7 such as trail-tuned shock absorbers and heavy-duty undercarriage protection.

Both variants are powered by a 3.0-litre diesel engine and are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The TDI Ouattro trim can generate 202 hp, while the TDI S Quattro S trim can produce 243 hp. Both come with the standard Audi’s all-wheel-drive Quattro system and is also outfitted with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The Q7 can reach a maximum speed of 250 kmph.

The standarrd safety features include Automatic Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-Force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist. The vehicle is also equipped with dual front, knee, curtain, and side airbags, as well as engine immobilizer and a reverse camera.

The Audi Q7 is an eye-catching SUV and definitely lives up to the Audi name. Thanks to its new facelift, this model has become an absolute head-turner while also offering a smooth, quiet drive perfect for those who value a driving experience that feels like a luxury. The Q7 goes head-to-head with the likes of the BMW X5, and the Volvo XC90. However, compared to all three, Audi succeeded in simplifying its design and technology features that don’t overwhelm the driver and clutter the vehicle with unnecessary things. While the Q7 has sacrificed some fuel economy for the sake of stronger driving performance, it definitely pays off.  The Audi Q7 is priced around P5.9 million to P7.9 million.
