MANILA: BYD Cars Philippines has hit the 10,000th new-energy-vehicle sales mark.

  • At the opening of the ongoing BYD Tech Tour in Glorietta Activity Center, the ACMobility-led automotive distributor formally turned over the white BYD eMAX 7 to its owner, AMG Systemtechnick Incorporated Solutions Manager Adrian Goh.

    In an interview, Goh noted that the newly-purchased model (which is the nameplate’s Standard trim) will be the fourth BYD model in his stable — the first three being a pair of Sealion 6 DM-i, and one Dolphin.

    “We really see the value proposition is good. We will use it (BYD eMAX 7) in our business,” Goh told Carmudi Philippines.

    “We recently went to China and 80-90 percent of the vehicles we saw are BYD models, so might as well give it a try here,” the tech industry executive added.

    Such a set-up allows the vehicle to run 100 kilometers per hour from rest in 10.1 seconds.

    Giving the vehicle a 420-kilometer range (based on New European Driving Cycle standards) is its 55.4-kilowatt-hour Blade Battery.

    Vehicle stability and controllability is guaranteed by the following features:

    • Disc brakes (ventilated for the front and solid for the rear)
    • Suspension system made up MacPherson Strut (front) and Multi-Link type (rear)
    • 17-inch wheels wrapped in 225/55 radial tires

    The BYD eMAX7 Standard trim carries a P1.498-million price tag.

    Meanwhile, BYD Cars Philippines Managing Director Bob Palanca expressed pride over the recent sales milestone.

    “10,000 Filipinos have spoken, electric mobility is the future. They are part of our thrust to share electric mobility solutions in the Philippines,” Palanca said in a separate interview.

    According to him, selling the 10,000th BYD NEV in the country signifies Filipino consumers' trust in the brand.

     “Every BYD NEV delivered reflects a customer’s belief in our vision for transformative mobility. This achievement energizes ACMobility and BYD’s drive to lead the country’s electric transformation by offering Filipinos dependable, innovative, and sustainable vehicles supported by services from brands they can rely on,” he continued.

    Meanwhile, BYD Philippines Country Head Aiffy Liu expressed elation over the latest accomplishment, noting that the marque was able to deliver such numbers in around a year’s time since it retailed electrified offerings.

    “As the Global #1 New Energy Vehicle Brand, Filipinos can expect more cutting-edge NEVs from BYD as we continue to provide the latest in electric vehicle technology, performance, durability, and safety.
