BYD Cars PH releases all-new Shark 6 DMO

MANILA:  BYD Cars Philippines has officially introduced the all-new Shark 6 DMO (Dual-Mode Off-Road) to the local market.

One of the brand’s much-awaited models to be introduced in the country, the said nameplate will be competing in the Philippine pickup truck segment.

Vehicle specifications

Here are the vehicle’s official specifications.

Exterior

The all-new BYD Shark 6 DMO measures:

Its mammoth-like dimensions blend well with the boxy grille bordered by LED headlamps, daytime running lamp bar, and chiseled bumper.

To its side are 18-inch wheels, side steps, power-folding side mirrors, as well as plastic wheel arches and exterior door panels.

Meanwhile, its rear portion comes with an LED taillight bar, rear-mounted recovery hooks, and roof rails. 

Other notable exterior portions are:

• Power outlets on the truck bed
• Cargo hooks
• Sports bar

Further, the tailgate can be opened in four ways:

• Button on the tailgate
• Touchscreen
• Keyfob
• Button at the center console 

Interior

Inside the all-new BYD Shark 6 DMO are elegant and modern appointments.

Its seats are covered in leather — with the front having ventilation function and electronic adjustability features and a reclinable second row.

The vehicle also has a dual-zone automatic climate control system with rear vents as well as USB-C ports.

The five-seater pick-up truck’s spacious cabin boasts the following amenities:

• 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster
• Rotating 12.8-inch central infotainment display with Bluetooth as well as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity mated to an eight-speaker setup
• 50-watt wireless charging pad

Powertrain

Power of the all-new BYD Shark 6 DMO comes from its 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and two electric motors.

The hybrid pick-up truck’s system — known as the DMO — can dish out the following churn:

Maximum output (in horsepower)	429
Peak torque (in Newton-meters)	650

With this, the all-new BYD Shark 6 DMO can gallop 0-100 kilometers per hour in 5.7 seconds.

On the other hand, stops and decelerations are guaranteed by front and rear disc brakes while ensuring vehicle stability are double-wishbone suspensions for the front and rear.

The vehicle also has the 4x4 system as standard and terrain modes namely mud, sand, and gravel.

Additionally, its 29.6-kilowatt-hour BYD Blade battery gives the vehicle an emissions-free range of around 100 kilometers (km). However, when combined with the internal combustion engine, the all-new BYD Shark 6 DMO can go over 800 kms.

Other features include regenerative braking system, vehicle-to-load functionality, and direct-current fast charging capability. 

Technologies

The all-new BYD Shark 6 DMO is outfitted with a myriad of safety, comfort, and driver assistive features.

Among the vehicle’s safety features are the anti-lock braking, stability control, traction control, front and rear parking sensors, hill-descent control, 360-degree view monitor, and six airbags - among others. 

Its advanced driver assist system (ADAS) is made up of:

• Adaptive cruise control
• Lane departure warning
• Emergency lane keep assist
• Automatic emergency braking
• Rear cross-traffic alert
• Rear cross-traffic braking
• Blind spot detection
