CAVITEX Southbound Flyover Partially Open
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced that the southbound flyover of the Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) is now partially open.
The operator of the said expressway, Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC), opened two out of four lanes of the flyover. The southbound flyover intends to improve traffic flow at the intersection of Pacific Drive and CAVITEX.
CAVITEX Infrastructure Corp. President Luigi Bautista said that the partial opening will “help ease traffic” while they complete the CAVITEX Phase 1 construction enhancement. Bautista added that Phase 1 will be completed by the end of August or early September. Phase 2 of the construction enhancement will start in September. This will involve the widening of bridges at the Wawa, Las Pinas area.
The DPWH added that the total cost for the CAVITEX construction enhancement (Phase 1 and 2) is around PHP1 billion.
CAVITEX is part of a road network being expanded by MPTC. It will connect to the 7.7-km C5-Southlink, which will traverse Taguig, Las Pinas, Paranaque, and the 45-km Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAx) until Mamplasan, Binan, and Laguna.
