Christmas Rush? Here's the Updated List of Mabuhay Lanes in Detail

As congestion on Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) worsens with the holiday season, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has devised a system of alternate routes that would hopefully ease the traffic not only on Metro Manila’s major thoroughfare—but all over the Metro as well. Dubbed as the Mabuhay/Kalayaan/Christmas Lanes, these alternate routes belonging to different cities and jurisdictions are mainly implemented during Christmas in preparation for the heavy traffic that comes with the season.

It’s worth noting that the priority for these express lanes are private vehicles, and public transport are only allowed to use them as part of their routes. The Mabuhay Lanes consist of 21 routes in all, with six routes from EDSA North to South, one route from EDSA South to North, three routes for the Greenhills-San Juan area, two for Baclaran, two for Carriedo, three for Divisoria, and the latest addition to the list—four new routes for SM North Avenue, SM Marikina, SM Center Point, and Trinoma.

Drivers are reminded that parts of Route 4 and Route 7 are is currently not applicable because the Estrella-Pantaleon Bridge is currently under construction. It is scheduled to be completed in 2021, so drivers may take Guadalupe Bridge or Mandaluyong - Makati Bridge in the meantime.
