Construction of NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10 C3-R10 to Start This Weekend

Starting this weekend, those using the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) may start readying themselves for much heavier traffic.

This as a part of the C3 Bridge will be partially closed to give way for the construction of the NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10 C3-R10 Section.

The planned construction of the elevated road crossing over Navotas River along C3 will start 11 PM, Saturday, until the projected completion of the works at the bridge in November 2019.

With that, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and NLEX Corporation, in close coordination with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and local government units of the cities of Caloocan, Malabon, and Navotas, will implement a traffic rerouting plan for light vehicles.

Light vehicles coming from C3 Road going to Radial Road 10 and vice versa, will be rerouted along Dagat-Dagatan Avenue and Lapu-Lapu Avenue, while heavy vehicles may still use the two-way traffic route at the remaining lane of C3 Bridge.

"We are advising motorists to plan their trips ahead and, at the same time, seek their understanding as the partial closure of C3 Bridge is necessary to complete this project on time," said MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia.

To ensure smooth traffic within the construction area and alternate routes, the MMDA and NLEX Corporation will deploy traffic marshals to manage the flow of vehicles and minimize traffic slowdown.

Directional traffic signs will also be placed at strategic locations to better guide the public. Traffic updates at the NLEX will be posted on electronic variable message signs and announced via social media accounts.

NLEX Corporation President and General Manager Luigi Bautista said, "Construction of the NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10 C3-R10 Section is making significant progress. When completed, it will provide direct access between R10 and NLEX thus contribute to ease of travel and traffic decongestion in Metro Manila."

The NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10 C3-R10 section, which is targeted for completion by December 2019, is a 2.6-km elevated expressway from C3 Road, Caloocan City to Radial Road 10, Navotas City. It will connect to the recently opened 5.65-kilometer NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10 that passes through Karuhatan, Valenzuela City, Governor Pascual Avenue in Malabon City, and New Caloocan Interchange in 5th Avenue/C3 Road, Caloocan City.
